UNICEF - Learning & Development (Sustainability Skills Training)

Private and Public partnerships for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

  • THE PROBLEM

Indonesia is one of the world’s most natural disaster-prone areas and is at risk of multiple hazards and constantly looking for solutions. In 2019, the UNICEF DRR Indonesia wanted to approach this matter in a new light. UNICEF supports child-centered disaster risk reduction (DRR) across Europe and Central Asia to prevent or mitigate humanitarian emergencies by reducing the impact of natural hazards from escalating into an emergency.

  • THE SOLUTION

SL2 organised a hackathon that brought in key players in the private sector to make a difference with their resources and network. Previously a discussion limited to the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), UN agencies, non-governmental organisations and the local government, the hackathon expanded the potential and opportunities offered by a public-private partnership.

  • OUR ROLE

The hackathon facilitated active engagement between stakeholders and companies on how to provide direct support to improve the resilience of local communities in disaster-prone areas. Bringing the private sector into the conversation expanded the network and opportunities for a faster response compared to specific DRR agencies. This increased the efficiency and opened up a pool of resources that were previously inaccessible, enhancing DRR mitigative measures.

Oreon AI - Learning & Development - Digital Skills Training

Platform to train and find AI and cloud computing talent

  • THE PROBLEM

Closing the gap in the offerings of AI and cloud computing skills for transit education targeting high school students, fresh graduates and professionals. Creating a non-formal professional offline to online training to ensure industries looking for employees with knowledge in emerging technologies will have adequately skilled talents.

  • THE SOLUTION

Created an online education and growth tracking platform with industry relevant content supported by domain experts from academic partners through IAIS (Indonesia AI Society).

  • OUR ROLE

SL2 rolled out competency profiling and training recommendations for professional growth through a centralised learning management system which allowed participants to learn, apply for jobs and create a niche-specific resume. We provided talents and a monthly average of 37 trainers and 152 students joining the platform.

Intel Digital Readiness - Learning & Development, Platform Design & Implementation

Driving the implementation of Intel Digital Readiness programme within localised contexts.

  • THE PROBLEM

There was a lack of impactful projects catering to the unique needs and aspirations of the local population.

  • THE SOLUTION

Building localised digital skill training through collaboration with local academic institutions and organisations.

  • OUR ROLE

We designed programme suitable for local audiences irrespective of prior experience in AI, technical skills, or subject specialisation. We further used the ‘Training the Trainers Approach” as the key to scaling the implementation of the IDR Programme. SL2 has conducted several Train-the-Trainer sessions for all the IDR Programme, scaling the programme extensively.

We built and utilised our existing networks to allow for government visibility and industry collaboration for IDR Programme, from validating the content and programme’ relevance to supporting the pilot initiatives and helping scale globally with all public and private stakeholders.

These strategic collaborations have led to the successful training of over 900 students and professionals in Indonesia.
