Tata Centre for Technology and Design at IIT Bombay - Research & Reporting
(Social Impact Reporting)
- THE PROBLEM
To assess the impact of TCTD projects through reporting, it is crucial to gauge their effectiveness and understand the significance of the changes they bring about. This is essential for informed decision-making and optimising project outcomes.
- THE SOLUTION
A comprehensive Impact Assessment Report to measure the effectiveness of the centre’s projects, assess whether the objectives of a specific intervention were achieved, and measure unintended consequences by judging the significance of changes brought about by these programme.
- OUR ROLE
We are engaged by the TATA Centre for Technology and Design (TCTD) to conduct an impact assessment of the centre’s activities around 12 select projects. The scope of this report centers on a comprehensive evaluation conducted by us, utilising the data and information provided by the research center. As a third-party consultancy, our role in this endeavour has been to analyse and evaluate the impact of the projects undertaken by TCTD, guided by the principles and methodologies outlined in the OECD framework. Our involvement has been characterised by a rigorous and systematic examination of the 12 projects.

- THE PROBLEM
Pressing social impact issues affecting the growing population in the face of climate change and pandemics in livelihood, food security, and community health.
- THE SOLUTION
Digital solutions and innovations can create better incomes and living conditions for rural populations and reverse unfavourable trends. Adopting digital technologies is one of the strongest catalysts for transformative processes to promote rural development, from improved access to services, management and decision-making to increased efficiency, productivity, and new opportunities. The solution lies in increasing the farmers’ productivity while maintaining environmental sustainability and improving public health through stakeholder involvement. This is only possible through deep collaboration and systemic change along the supply chain.
- OUR ROLE
Our implementation involved establishing a comprehensive innovation cycle. We invited teams to express their interest in participating in workshops centered around foresight, innovation, and community development. These workshops featured dedicated breakout sessions with our partners to enhance the development of innovative solutions. The top teams received guidance and mentorship from academic partners, and their proposed solutions were field-tested within the community. Our primary objective was to deliver tailored training in futures thinking to aid in the generation and execution of solutions, thereby supporting the entire innovation cycle.
