Translating awareness & action around e-waste (eRevival Square)
THE PROBLEM
For a small country, Singapore generates about 60,000 tonnes of e-waste a year which works out to be about 70 mobile phones per person, and yet awareness around this issue remains low.
THE SOLUTION
The NEA launched a national e-waste management system as of 1 Jul 2021. The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach makes producers responsible for managing the end-of-life disposal of regulated electrical and electronic products supplied to the Singapore market.
OUR ROLE
E-waste management is a complex issue which can only be solved via a multi-pronged approach, involving government, businesses and members of the public. By partnering with SGTech and Facebook, eRevival Square aims to raise community awareness and action towards Singapore’s growing e-waste problem.
