Building a culture of repairing in Singapore (Repair Kopitiam)
THE PROBLEM
Tackling Singapore's "Buy-and-Throw" attitude through the concept of a maker space and national repair training program.
THE SOLUTION
Giving the public opportunities to learn hands-on how to repair their day-to-day use items from clothes to kitchen appliances through the concept of a maker space and a national repair training program.
OUR ROLE
The monthly Repair Kopitiam event is a testament to SL2's on-ground implementation expertise and focus on proposing initiatives that serve the Public, Private and People. Our program, with support from the National Environment Agency, aims to positively impact Singapore's throwaway culture, while also serving as an active aging program.
Client Feedback

"Repair Kopitiam'' is the first of its kind sustainable environmental programme in Singapore that engages youths and community on waste minimization and "Reduce/Reuse“ principles of the 3Rs. In line with the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint vision of a "Zero Waste Society", NEA strongly supports the Repair Kopitiam programme given its focus on the Reduce/Reuse of the 3Rs, and the objective to promote a Repair and hands-on culture in Singapore to spur innovation and creativity.”
